About

I’m a New York-born, New Jersey-bred, New Haven-educated, New York-based freelance writer, editor, and webcast producer specializing technology and life science. I’m a producer/host of the IEEE Spectrum “Tech Insider” webinar series, recent editor of the IEEE Microwave Theory and Techniques Society’s Microwave Newsletter, and a contributor to IEEE Spectrum’s Tech Talk blog.

I founded the venture-backed internet marketing start-up Physician Verification Services, which I served as CEO and CTO. I have worked corporate director of scientific communications at SmithKline Beecham, and as executive vice-president and editorial director of Nature Publishing in the U.S. I’ve been editor-in-chief of BioTechniques, Pharmaceutical Technology, and Nature Publishing Company’s Bio/Technology (now called Nature Biotechnology).

Earlier, I acquired computer science books for Hayden Book Company.

I’m a member of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the IEEE (and the IEEE’s Microwave Theory and Techniques, Engineering in Medicine and Biology, Communications, and Robotics and Automation Societies), and the American Physical Society.

I earned my B.A. in English Language and Literature (with a minor in mathematical physics) from Yale College, and briefly attended graduate school in physics at Stevens Institute of Technology.
